What to Expect from your Newborn Session

WHAT TO EXPECT

All props, baby wardrobe, styling and set-up are provided with your session fee. Space heaters, warmers and hand sanitizers are always used with the safest precautions taken for your little one. Session time usually range around 2-3 hrs. I will be handling the baby the entire time unless feeding or diaper change is needed. There will be snacks, drinks, Netflix, Wifi, and a comfy couch available if you want to take a nap!

WHEN TO SCHEDULE

Most newborn sessions are scheduled when baby is between 5-14 days old. I ask that you reach me as soon as you can after you and baby are home from the hospital as it may take up to a week to schedule you in. We do get booked up, so please book in advance during your pregnancy to avoid missing out. Any allergies, illness or developing skin conditions must be disclosed prior to session date.

PREPPING BABY

Bathe your baby with either a full water bath or a wet cloth wipe for some awake time.

IF YOU LIVE WITHIN 15 MINUTES:
Feed baby 20 minutes before leaving.

IF YOU LIVE WITHIN 30 MINUTES:
Feed baby 10 minutes before leaving.

IF YOU LIVE 1 HOUR AWAY:
Feed baby half the milk and the remaining half once arrived in studio. After feeding your baby, only dress them in a diaper and zip off footed romper/onesie. Depending on the time of year, wrap a blanket(s) on top of them while in the car seat. Nothing should pull over their head and omit socks or mittens until after the session if desired.

WHAT TO BRING

. Milk/bottles/nursing accessories.

. Newborn pacifier if you have one.

. Baby blanket or wrap.

. Diapers/wipes.

. Going home clothes for baby.

. Toys and or snacks if with other children.

. Water bottle and change of clothes for you.

Please consult in advance if you have preferences for certain props or colour schemes. Selections used are based on gender, baby’s size and baby’s alertness.

NEWBORN FAMILY

– Dress in solid, neutral colours with a snug fit. White t-shirts/tops or dresses look great. Avoid logos, patterns and bright colours. Most snuggle poses are usually very tightly framed to focus on baby. Jewellery should be kept to a minimum. Toddlers and siblings photos will be done at the beginning of the session, followed by parent and family photos. Feel free to have one parent leave with small child(ren) if they get restless. There is a great local cafe with a playground nearby.

AFTER THE SESSION

Processing time for your gallery is 2 weeks. When your photos have been retouched to perfection, you’ll come back to the studio for The Big Reveal! This is an exciting moment where you’ll get to see the best photos from your session displayed in a beautiful slideshow. You’ll be able to choose the images you love and decide how you’d like to print them. I will guide you through choosing wall art to display in your home or give to grandparents and friends. Please have all the decision makers present as you’ll be placing your order that day.

DELIVERY

Your beautiful artwork has arrived! You’ll be able to display your heirloom photos in your home for all to admire for generations to come!
